The Art of Gross ups

While researching for the LIAF pitch, I came across an art technique that has been used a lot in Spongebob Squarepants. The technique is called “Gross ups”, which means close-up frames that are disturbingly and disgustingly detailed. I’ve seen them many times before, but I wasn’t fully aware of them until now.

After researching, I decided to implement this technique into my pitch as it works well with horror. First, I wanted to try it out myself, and here is an example:
