Analyzing my Reference Video for the Mood Change Exercise

Here’s my reference video for the mood change exercise. I will be analyzing it to truly understand the movement, in order to translate it properly through animation.

The storyline is: someone sneaking out of fear and turns around to a jumpscare then runs away.

2 types of walks: sneaky and running away from something.

  • The arms and shoulders don’t bounce that much. I think it’s better to keep it that way since the emotion of fear makes you some kind of stiff and protective of yourself.
  • The run could be faster and more intense, not a jog.
  • The second turn of the head should have a little pause, to process the jump scare before reacting.
  • I think the balls of the feet should touch the floor first, and not the heels.
  • While running away, I think it’d be nice if the head is leaning back, and the chest is going forward, just to really exaggerate the run.
