More Research About Animator Yousef Al Bagshi
This is more information I would like to share about my analysis of another one of Yousef Al Bashgi’s animations. The short film is called Naqla.

- Naqla: Naqla (It translates to moving/transferring/or relocation) It is a film about war, which is also depicting a handicapped orphan that lives with his mother. He lives with this heaviness and feelings of incapability which leads him to almost end his life. However, the war sirens go off and missiles start to bomb the city. It ends with him overcoming what he’s going through while also saving his mother’s life.
What it represents: it represents the responsibility of the guardian which can sometimes be overwhelming for both the parent and the disabled. And that leads to the disabled feeling like giving up.
Naqla: (Techniques)
- One of the techniques that caught my attention is a panel popping on the side to show the action that is happening which is at an angle we cannot see.
- Another technique is fading or darkening the mother’s character as she walks away to show distance.
- The style is very melancholy which supports the concept and theme of the animation. The scribbly lines represent how unstable and disturbing the environment and the characters are.
Here’s my main presentation:
Thank you.
